ChatFold Privacy Policy

What ChatFold Does

ChatFold is a Chrome extension that helps you organize conversations on ChatGPT (chatgpt.com), Claude (claude.ai), and Gemini (gemini.google.com) with folders, tags, pinning, and search.

Data Storage

• All data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API (chrome.storage.local).
• If you are signed into Chrome with sync enabled, your organized conversations (folders, pins, tags, titles), folder structure, settings, and UI state are synced across your devices using Chrome's built-in sync storage (chrome.storage.sync). This sync is handled entirely by Chrome — ChatFold does not operate any sync servers. Unfiled conversations stay local to each device.
• No conversation content is ever read, stored, or transmitted by ChatFold. The extension only reads conversation titles from the sidebar of supported platforms.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect or transmit any personal information.
• We do not read conversation content or messages.
• We do not use analytics or tracking scripts.
• We do not sell, share, or transfer any user data to third parties.
• We do not use cookies or any form of cross-site tracking.

Permissions Explained

• storage: Used to save your folder structure, tags, and pinned conversations locally on your device, and to sync your organization across devices via Chrome Sync.
• Host permissions (chatgpt.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com): Required to inject the sidebar UI into these specific sites. The extension only reads conversation titles from each platform's sidebar — it does not read, modify, or transmit conversation content.
• Host permission (extensionpay.com): Required for the payment system to verify purchase status. No user data is sent — only a payment verification handshake occurs between the extension and ExtensionPay.

Payment Processing

ChatFold offers an optional premium upgrade. Payments are processed by ExtensionPay, which uses Stripe for secure payment handling. ChatFold does not directly handle, store, or have access to any payment card details or billing information.

Third-Party Services

ChatFold does not integrate with or send data to any third-party services except for optional payment processing as described above. There are no analytics, advertising, or data collection services embedded in the extension.

Data Deletion

You can delete all ChatFold data at any time by:

• Using the "Reset All Data" button in the extension's Settings page. This clears data on the current device and publishes a reset marker via Chrome Sync so your other signed-in devices also clear their ChatFold data the next time they sync.
• Uninstalling the extension (removes all local data on that device).
• Using Chrome's "Clear browsing data" feature for extension storage.

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be communicated through the extension's update notes on the Chrome Web Store.
